Specifically, the minister stated that the first stage of reopening will see classroom lessons to continue for students sitting for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM), Sijil Vokasional Malaysia (SVM),  Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan (STPM) and Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM), as well as equivalent international examinations. The School Reopening Management Guidelines had been distributed to schools earlier this month in order to prepare for the aforementioned date. He also explained that schools are now required to carry out body temperature screenings for both students and school staff, and will not permit any individuals from entering if they display symptoms or return body temperatures exceeding 37.5⁰C.

Dr Mohd Radzi added that tables in classrooms should be arranged one metre apart and no more than 20 students are permitted per room. That said, a higher capacity is allowed but only for bigger premises such as a hall – with the social distancing restriction in place, of course. Additionally, outdoor school activities such as sports and co-curriculum, as well as assemblies are still prohibited for the time being. The minister also said that the guidelines will be gradually improved based on advice from the Ministry of Health (MOH). (Source: NST)
