The image was first posted on Twitter by some unknown user and promptly removed, but not before it was downloaded and saved by certain parties. Like all leaks, the authenticity of the image has undoubtedly been called to question by certain parties. However, leakster site Videocardz believes that the alleged RX 6800XT board could be the real deal, especially seeing how the main GPU has been blotted out. We can, of course, make out certain details from the PCB; for a start, the memory modules – highlighted by the yellow tape on top of the solder bumps – are empty, but at least we know that there will be eight of them. Also, assuming the card will indeed have 16GB GDDR6, then we’re looking at 2GB per modules.
We also see two heatsinks flanking both sides of the GPU core, as well as the two 8-pin PCIe power ports at the far right corner. Moreover, the shape of the PCB is slightly unusual, with one half of the top being slightly taller than the rest of the board. That said, it’s still nothing compared to the ultra-compact design of NVIDIA’s Founders Edition GeForce RTX 30 series cards. In any case, we’re less than a week to the grand launch of AMD’s Radeon RX 6000 series cards, so take this news with a grain of salt until then. (Source: Twitter via Videocardz)
