Details of the 4700G was first posted on Reddit by a user called Hifihedgehog. The details are clear; the APU is based on AMD’s 7nm Zen 2 CPU architecture, specifically the Renoir architecture. As with all APUs, the 4700G unsurprisingly comes loaded with a set of Radeon Vega Graphic Cores as well. Specs-wise, the benchmark shows that the 4700G sports an 8-cores, 16-threads layout and has a TDP power envelope of 65W. The takeaway here, however, is the boost clock it seems to be running on, which is 4.765GHz. Clearly, this speed was achieved via overclocking, but more interestingly, it was allegedly reached while using air-cooling. Unfortunately, the benchmark doesn’t list down the prowess of the APU’s integrated graphics cores.
Compatibility-wise, the Ryzen 7 4700G is expected to be compatible with all currently existing AM4 motherboards, including the X570, B550, and the last generation X470 and B450 models. Official details of the 4700G are still scarce, but initial rumours have suggested that the 4700G is just one of four SKUs that AMD intends to launch. As to when that launch is, it’s safe to say that we can expect these APUs sooner, rather than later, given AMD’s current roll with its product launches.
