Yet again, we hear you asking a question: What exactly is Kubernetes? Firstly, the name is derived from an agreed-upon Greek definition, meaning helmsman. Second and for the uninitiated, Kubernetes is, in and of itself, an open-source system created for and used in computer applications that execute deployment, scaling, or even management. To put it in another way, imagine a group of Linux-based clusters and containers as very capable children, savants if you will, each with a unique skillset. By their lonesome selves and with no one to properly show them the ropes, these children are unfocused, have no purpose. From this point of view, Kubernetes is then the school teacher, tasked with bringing all the “children” together, focusing their energy and skills into a single, unified purpose.
